Postcards from Witton Park

Witton Park is a village in County Durham, situated to the west of Bishop Auckland. The village is very small now, with less than 400 inhabitants, but was once a thriving place with many shops, pubs, and even a stately house.

The villagers wanted to celebrate their family war heroes who fought and died in the First World War.

We helped the villagers to prepare a series of postcards and posters. We came up with the concept of super-imposing modern-day Witton Parkers onto photographs of their First World War ancestors. The postcards featured the ‘modified’ photograph with biographies/timeline on the reverse. All were presented in a fake wallet.

The postcards were later converted into A0 mounted posters for display at an event in Witton Park village hall.
