Spanish City Plaza seats

We were very pleased to be consulted about the lettering for the new seating at the Spanish City Plaza at Whitley Bay. Capita, who handled the landscape design and building, asked us to come up with a letter shape that suggested fairgrounds. Hand-drawn designs were out of the question due to a limited budget so  we recommended they use the beautiful Eames Century Modern font from House Industries. This is the typeface that famous American designers Ray and Charles Eames ‘might’ have designed and is heavily influenced by their love of fairground lettering. The Extra Bold Italic version was used.
